Fabulous and very soft pillow handmade from cactus silk in Morocco. Sometimes called Vegetable or SabraSilk, it is a luxurious fabric made from the Saharan Aloe Vera Cactus.
The process for making Sabra Silk has been the same for centuries. The spiky leaves from the cactus are crushed and soaked in wáter to separate the fibres and then they are whased, dried and spun to make the silk threads.
To keep the fabric as natural as posible, the threads are only dyed with natural vegetable dyes such as saffron, indigo or henna.

Precioso almohadón muy suave tejido a mano en Marruecos a partir de seda de cactus. La seda de cactus también llamada seda vegetal es ideal para veganos ya que el tejido se extrae a partir solamente de Aloe Vera.
El proceso de elaboración ha sobrevivido al paso del tiempo. Las hojas puntiagudas de los cactus se trituran y se empapan en agua para separar las fibras, después se lavan, secan y se hilan para obtener las madejas de hilo de seda.
Para mantener el tejido tan natural como sea posible, la seda sólo se tiñe con tintes vegetales naturales como azafrán, indigo o henna.
